The client

Danaher Motion is one of the major providers worldwide in drive and control technology. With more than 2,000 distribution agencies and global product development centres, the company has been able to maintain its strong position over its competitors since the eighties. In order to be able to meet increasing market requirements, the company relaunched its existing website and presented an international and multi lingual solution, which provides its client with a significantly improved service, strengthening customer loyalty as a result.

The task

The challenge for communicode lay first and foremost in taking over different already existing corporate and product data and its global linkage. In this connection, the focus was on the international linguistic implementation of the web project - initially in five languages. Additional functionalities should enable the speedy publication of product information and also facilitate the presentation of local corporate data in all languages with the assistance of simple menu navigation. The user's research for products, product information and associated documents should be as easy and efficient as possible. Applying the search engine optimization, meta tags of "self-explanatory" URLs and a sitemap have to be adjusted to the requirements of various search engines.

The implementation

Detailed product illustrations as well as their presentation in any language from the core of the website. Particular attention was thereby turned to the illustration and publication of country specific products.These requirements resulted in the introduction of a professional Document Management System (DMS), so that all documents could be made intuitively available to the users of the website.The product centric information structure and the large quantity of inventory information required a high degree of automatisation, so that from now on all product managers have access to the system and that the maintenance of the existing structures can be carried out in an easy-to-use WCMS. 

The details

The  RedDot XCMS 7.0 Server in connection with  Open Text Livelink was used for the implementation for the first time. communicode designed and continued to develop the module RJI (RedDot Java Interface) to enable the fully automated set up of the structure, the navigation and the contents by programming. Each content-related change by the user can be realized in only a few steps. The RJI also enables the integration of "translation offices" (Translation Memory Systems) thereby securing the simplified creation of any language variants. In addition, the Translation Editor guarantees that any change of local contents is directly transferred into the existing languages. As a result, each country can decide itself which contents will be published. Based on this project, communicode was able to win the RedDot Innovation Award for the most innovative project implementation at the end of 2007, thereby firmly establishing itself as the leading ECM solution provider of the segment
