The client

It was in 1983 when Achim Perleberg sold greeting cards adorned with Swarovski crystals at the Christmas market in Essen for the first time. These Christmas cards proved to be such a success that just a year later he founded the Perleberg publishing company. Today, the company has about 200 employees and products such as the greeting card range "Lifestyle", the "Motzpuppe", a talking doll, or the Bigfoot characters have long captured the gift article market

The task

Their newly designed website, the professional depiction of products as well as the linkage to a shop system, enables Perleberg to address their clients also professionally on the internet. At the same time, the new online system takes some of the load off employees as frequent questions and recurrent purchasing processes can be automatically processed via the website.

The implementation

The new online shop of the Perleberg publishing company is based on the Information Management System infuniq of infuniq Systems GmbH. The PIM solution enables the central capture and administration of all product data in one database. Changes of the product range are automatically integrated in the PIM system. Apart from that, all price information, which is required for placing an order, will be made available to the online shop via the internal ERP system, whereby the data exchange takes place via a joint folder of an FTP server. The web shop has been designed in such a way that different customer specific price models can be processed in accordance with requirements.

The details

With the introduction of their new online shop, the Bochum-based company provides its customers with enhanced research and order facilities. Subsequent to a one-off registration, visitors of the Perleberg website will be able to create individual wish lists or to make use of the gift service: the customer chooses the required article, which can then be delivered gift wrapped to an address of his choice. Customer specific information is stored on a database, enabling Perleberg to address their customers individually and targetedly. That way for example, based on the shopping history of a customer, cross-selling recommendations can be made automatically. Upon the completion of an order, all order data will be sent by email to the support team. Electronic order processing does not only save a lot of time, but in contrast to manual order registration, it also reduces the error rate. Due to the modular structure of infuniq, the Perleberg publishing company is able, if required, to add additional modules such as infuniq Print to the PIM system at any time.
