The client
The company of the Lower Rhine region of Germany 'Elefanten Schuh' looks back on a long tradition: Founded in 1908, the shoe manufacturer stood for decades for best quality. After almost hundred years the traditional company had to close down at the end of 2004. Since February 2006, DEICHMANN, the new owner of the brand rights, has been making sure that the shelves are once again filled with children’s shoes.
The task
Combined with the re-entry into the market, the internet presence should be relaunched. It was the objective of the newly designed Elefanten site to present the entire range online, whereby it had been important to emphasize that Elefanten shoes would continue to be available in first class quality.
The implementation
communicode conceived, designed and realized the entire internet presence of Elefanten. Apart from that, the Essen agency has amongst others been responsible for strategic consultation, visual and contents-related conception, hosting as well as for regular updates of the online presence. The new website presents the complete product range: a Flash animation as well as a 3D view is provided for each shoe. In addition, all products can be viewed in their original size. Furthermore, extensively detailed descriptions illustrate the individual Elefanten systems. Apart from the product sector, www.elefanten.de provides information worth knowing and a range of tips around the subject of children's feet and health. Furthermore, the section "Fun" provides a range of games suitable for children. Using the PowerSearch function, clients are able to search for the correct children's shoe with the desired characteristics. Search for dealers and the press area complete the wide range of the Marketing site.
The details
The website has been newly designed by communicode, both visually and structurally. Apart from that, the implementation of the internet presence with XHTML and CSS guarantees a faster depiction of the pages, future security, extensibility, easier maintenance and higher compatibility for future browser generations and media.
The Elefanten site is technologically based on the Content Management System RedDot by RedDot Solutions, Oldenburg. The CMS enables the easy maintenance of the bilingual website (German/English). Changes of the product range Änderungen are automatically integrated into the Information Management System.
