Kollmorgen and Thomson on new road to success: communicode realizes new web presences

Since the beginning of October 2009, the Internet has two new web presences: Kollmorgen and Thomson (corporations of the Danaher Group) have relaunched their web presence. communicode developed the uniform concept of the websites resp. the navigation structure for both corporations and realized the portals on the basis of the already existing Content Management System. The new internet portals now combine company-specific information and product information. Clients and interested parties are now able to gather information on products and corporate services and to download documents, technical product manuals and associated software as well as 2D and 3D product drawings free of charge if required.

The project is based on the Open Text Web Solutions Management Server in connection with Open Text LiveLink. The RJI (RedDot Java Interface), which has been developed by communicode, guarantees that already entered contents and project structures within the CMS can be organised and presented in accordance with the new requirements. The export of the project via the RJI allows the integration of translation offices, which enable the creation of several language variants.

The challenge for communicode with regard to this very extensive and comprehensive project was to create a new navigation structure in the Management Server based on a default sitemap. On the basis of predefined rules, all contents were allocated to the two projects within the CMS in an automated manner. In addition, the previously independent extranet was integrated in the web presences and equipped with a respective link to the CRM system (Salesforce.com). With the aid of the user rights assignment in the Open Text Management Server, Kollmorgen and Thomson employees are now able to determine, who will be activated for which contents within the extranet. The user rights assignment is carried out on the basis of maintainable characteristics of the respective contents in CMS.
