communicode creates online shop for fashion and lifestyle company Breuninger
Expanding the classic retail business model by an online sales channel is increasingly becoming a central subject and economic necessity for traditional retailers selling major brands. Anyone who wants to remain in business in the tough and competitive world of retailing subsequently needs an online shop as a distribution channel, which not only conforms to the quality of the brand, but which also enables the secure processing of order management. The Stuttgart-based German Fashion und Lifestyle company Breuninger, which is well known throughout Germany for its long-standing tradition, has decided in favour of such a high-performance and fully integratable e-Commerce system and asked communicode to develop and implement the new channel. communicode is responsible for the implementation of the conception, the programming as well as the intelligent linkage of the online shop to the existing ERP system and the implementation of the Breuninger Card as an online method of payment.
The online shop system was realised on the basis of the hybris Commerce Suite 3.1. Apart from the linkage of the internal systems for master and product data, it was a particular challenge to implement the Look & Feel of the online shop in such a way, that it would conforms to the quality and value of the products offered. Another decisive factor for the project’s success was the transfer of master and product data to the new online shop system within a narrow time frame. In order to be able to provide customers with a genuine added value, the platform Breuninger Fashion TV was used to create a special area, which goes far beyond the normal media presentation of products. For example, especially produced videos for individual products can now be added to the product detail page. The payment management for the classic payment methods direct debit and credit card are processed via the interfaces of the payment provider TeleCash. At the same time, Germany’s first store or loyalty card, the Breuninger Card has also been implemented by communicode as an online payment method with integrated “view invoice” facility.
